My name is Andrea Di Pietrantonio (http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=70937479&trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile), business analyst at Invesdor (http://www.invesdor.com), Northern European equity crowdfunding platform.

I am currently a M.Sc. student at Bocconi University in Milan and I am writing my thesis on the motivation behind equity crowdfunding investors. There have been researches (academically speaking) on donation and reward crowdfunding community but not many on equity crowdfunding ones (one of the most interesting views is the one from TheCrowdCafe (http://www.thecrowdcafe.com/crowdfunding-motivations/))

If you know Invesdor, or feel like wanting to know it more, and feel like helping me out with my thesis research please reply to this survey:

The survey is meant to create the data for a regression analysis and validate my research hypothesis. My goal is to understand the main motivation and their weight for the different segments of users in an equity crowdfunding community.

I believe this kind of research can be useful for the improvement of the industry.

Thank you for your help!

As a general comment, what would you address as the main motivations?

In general terms, my idea so far, is that different sub-groups of users have different drivers for engagement (defined not only as investment but maybe as simple sharing). Every "sub-category" has specific characteristics in terms of users and amount invested.

Segmenting the market like this has direct and important implications for both companies and platforms. Different groups in fact, require different communication from both the platforms and the companies.

Hi,

thank you for your help! I really appreciate it.

Thank you Mike. Yes, I will. As a start, I'd like to discuss how much you think seeking financial return affect equity crowdfunding investments.

Seeking a financial return might be a motivation taken for granted when it comes to investments. But, although it is for sure one of the main reasons for investing in growth companies, can we address it as the main motivation for equity crowdfunding investments?
