View Full Version : Philanthropy crowdfunding sites?

Hello all,
I am looking to find crowdfunding sites dedicated (or best suited) for philanthropy projects, where the money can be donated for someone who needs an expensive operation, to buy a wheelchair, to buy a water filtering system for a poor village and so on.
I found such projects on Indiegogo - for example this (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-save-easton-baby-battling-epidermolysis-bullosa-eb) project - but I was wondering maybe there are better sites for such projects.

Another question: what are the best crowdfunding sites in Spain for philanthropy projects?

Thank you

Well, I would say that Gofundme.com is likely one of the more popular platforms based mainly on donations. They have all sorts of categories related to anything from health to people needing funds for school, etc: http://www.gofundme.com/

Also http://Kiva.org is a debt based donation platform. Also very good, many charities. Not sure about your Spain question though, sorry.

I'd say kickstarter, but thats more for creative projects. Maybe something more along the lines of a gofundme, or a razoo. A quick search for sites also comes back with a number of apparel companies - booster.com, teespring.com, sevenly.com... all seem legitimate

Rewards and donation platforms are both based on more philanthropic motives, but it also depends on your needs. Some bigger platforms have greater reach, whereas some of the smaller ones offer more individualised services and cater to niche markets. Charities have been funded on platforms such as Bloom VC, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and as mentioned above, GoFundMe is also popular. Do some research and find the right platform for you! I don't think you need to look at Spanish sites in particular as many platforms are available internationally anyway.
