(CrowdCube) The Botanical Drinks Company Ltd

    The Botanical Drinks Company Ltd
    Investment target:£ 150,000
    http://www.crowdcube.com/investment/...pany-ltd-11291

The Botanical Drinks Co. is a drinks company, passionate about creating drinks that play to the senses, sophisticated healthy drinks made with nature’s finest botanicals. Our first drink to market - LULL - is an innovative fruit and botanical non-alcoholic ‘chill-out’ drink, designed to ‘soothe mind and body’, a functional drink at the vanguard of the 'relaxation' trend in the UK.
Launched as a single flavour variant, combining kiwi, blackberry, blackcurrant and red grape (30% fruit juice), all fruits high in antioxidants, it has the distinctive taste of lavender and is blended with eleven natural botanicals with proven calming properties. A second flavour variant – LULL Black, with the same ‘relaxation’ positioning is to be launched later this year.
LULL is packaged in a stylish and distinctive looking aluminium bottle, made from recycled material and fully recyclable.
LULL is currently sold through up-market retailers, health stores, coffee shops, health clubs, spas and hotels throughout the UK, as well as being sold in various European countries and overseas.
LULL is a registered trademark in the UK and across Europe,as well as in the USA, China, India and Australia.
    The Opportunity
LULL is an early entrant into a new market with limited competition. TBDC are forecasting sales revenue for LULL of £1.7m by March 2015, earning net profits before tax of £0.3m.
LULL has been very well received by both market commentators and the general public, winning two industry awards for ‘Best Relaxation Drink’ and ‘Best Functional Drinks Label’ in April 2012.
    Management
To date, TBDC has operated a lean management structure with focus on sales, marketing and product range extension. The manufacturing and distribution is all outsourced. TBDC’s founder and LULL’s creator is Claire Lettice, an experienced marketer with 25 years experience in business.
    Financials
At retail prices, we estimate a £4m brand (at £1.90 rrp) by the end of March 2015. To maximise the initial momentum that LULL has so far gained, TBDC is seeking early funding.
To date, all development and launch costs have been funded by the founder and external investment is now being sought of £150,000 in return for a 25% equity stake to support the sales growth (sales resource and robust marketing plan) and cover working capital. Founder‘s cash/ sweat investment to date is just under £120,000.
There are a number of potential exit options. The most likely is that the company is acquired by a key player in the drinks sector but a share buy-back scheme, once the company becomes cash generative, could also be instigated. Both scenarios are envisaged as likely by 2015 (within 3 years).

Clair, very interesting idea. Is there much competition in the relaxation beverage industry? I do know of one company it's trades under BBDA which sells a relaxation drink.
