The underpinning reason for a startup to fail is NO PASSION! Passion will lead the way to turning obstacles (including those so well graphically displayed here) into immense wisdom. We were screwed by patent attorneys, almost lost our rights to our invention, run out of money many times, and are now (after almost 11 years) a tax/global expansion-efficient restructured business ready to show the world the result of our market trials (face to face with consumers) in Australia. Watch for the landing of INSTAGAMI on Earth!!! My line for achieving success: Keep going... regardless.

That is a big factor, but I think the biggest factor is lack of exposure (not enough eyeballs on the project page).

I definitely find the biggest reason for failure is not building an audience/showing work you've done successfully. Impatience tends to kill taking the time to grow excitement/fans of whatever the crowdfunding or startup is for, when thats the very thing you need to get funded!
